Short characteristics of qualification
The person with the above qualifications possesses interdisciplinary competences related to deep and specialised knowledge of the English language, literature and culture, as well as the ability to use this knowledge in work-related contexts in accordance with ethical principles. He/she demonstrates the command of English at C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages developed by the Council of Europe and can use specialized varieties of English. He/she can think critically, analyze texts of culture, associate facts and formulate conclusions. He/she has relevant cognitive tools necessary to develop a research question independently; knows the principles of effective self-presentation and can apply tools of information and communication technology for the purposes of creating multimedia presentations; has the ability to work in a team and plan and distribute tasks within a group; demonstrates an attitude of openness to other cultures and languages and has intercultural competences. In the case of choosing the translation specialisation, the graduate is able to construct linguistically and logically correct oral and written translations in various subject areas and language registers, e.g. marketing, management, technology, medicine and humanities. After completing the teaching specialisation, the graduate has the competences to carry out didactic, educational and caring tasks resulting from the role of the teacher in secondary schools. The studies prepare for jobs which require proficiency in English as an indispensable tool in everyday professional functioning, e.g. in corporations (HR departments), international foundations, tourism and the service sector which require a good knowledge of language and culture. It is also possible to work in the IT industry in linguistic departments as a language specialist and translator. After completing the translation specialisation, the student has competences to work as a translator (after obtaining relevant experience), as well as in cultural and educational institutions, publishing houses, editorial offices and mass media. After completing the teaching specialisation, the graduate can start working as a teacher in kindergarten and primary or secondary school (in accordance with the standards of education for the teaching profession).After completing the teaching specialization the graduate is able to put into practical use his/her knowledge of didactics and methodology of English language teaching by organizing classroom work, creating teaching materials and effectively working with a group. As regards the translation specialization, the graduate is able to put into practical use the skills fundamental to successful interpreting; written or audiovisual translation. He/she possesses the knowledge of translation software.

Relationship to occupations or sectors
After completing the teaching specialisation - qualifications to teach English at the level required in secondary school (as an extension of qualifications to teach in kindergarten and primary school). Legal basis: Ordinance of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 17 January 2012 on standards of teacher training education (Dz. U. of 2012, item 131). There is a possibility of starting one"s own business (e.g. language school). After gaining the relevant experience and qualifications, it is possible to work as a sworn, audiovisual, simultaneous and/or consecutive translator.
Additional qualification information
With regard to the teaching specialisation - mid-year (observation) teaching practice (30 hours) in secondary school; 120 hours of continuous teaching practice in secondary school. With regard to the translation specialization - translation practice (30 hours) in translation agencies or other institutions. There is a possibility of continuing education at EQF level 8 in the doctoral school or post- graduate studies. Classes conducted in Polish as part of the studies: "The Bible - Its Essence and Role in Culture", "Catholic Social Teaching and John Paul II Social Thought". Studies are also conducted in a part-time mode; some of the lectures are conducted with the use of e-learning.
