Qualification
A qualification is a formal confirmation that a person has demonstrated, in accordance with the applicable procedure, that they have achieved the required learning outcomes (competences) specified for that qualification. A document confirming the award of a qualification may be, for example, a school certificate, diploma or certificate.
A qualification can be awarded only if the person has achieved a positive validation outcome, confirming that the required learning outcomes have been achieved. Qualifications may be awarded only by authorised institutions.
This understanding of the term “qualification” is consistent with the definitions adopted in the relevant Council of the European Union Recommendation and in the IQS Act.
