Knowledge

Knowledge consists of objects and facts, processes, principles and regularities that people have learned about, as well as an understanding of theories developed through scientific research.

In the terminology used in the IQS, “knowledge” is one of the three categories of learning outcomes distinguished in the PQF. The requirements for individual qualifications refer to selected elements of knowledge – familiarity with descriptions of objects and facts, as well as principles, theories and practices relating to a particular field of learning or professional activity.

In everyday language, as well as in some studies and documents, the terms “knowledge”, “skills”, “competences” and “qualifications” are often used interchangeably.
