Skills Audit Method

Recommended for:

The Skills Audit Method helps identify and organise the knowledge, skills and social competences acquired at different times and in different settings, for example at work, on courses or at school. It can also be used to identify a person’s aptitudes and interests. This provides a comprehensive picture of their potential based on experience, as well as possible directions for further learning.

Using the Skills Audit Method results in a portfolio containing a list of identified competences together with evidence that demonstrates them, such as work samples, photographs, videos or references. This provides a basis for preparing a plan for the person’s further development.

The Skills Audit Method can also be used when working with pupils, helping them identify and organise the skills and knowledge they already have, recognise their strengths and plan their next steps.
