Regional Qualifications Framework Initiatives Around the Globe 2020 - A Comparative Study

RQF cienAn interesting report - Regional Qualifications Framework Initiatives Around the Globe 2020 - a joint product of 3S Research Laboratory and the European Training Foundation Qualifications Project - was published in February 2021.

Regional Qualifications Frameworks (RQFs) usually combine National Qualifications Frameworks (NQFs) of several countries in one region - countries often regionally linked in economic communities such as the EU, ASEAN, CARICOM or SADC. Some frameworks are not connected by geography, but by other links such as language, common heritage and shared culture, or common interests. There is, however, limited knowledge and literature concerning RQFs. The best known RQF in the world is the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), it can even be seen as a kind of global brand. The EQF, however, is not the only RQF in the world - there are many more, though less recognized and less known.

The purpose of the recommended report is to map Regional Qualifications Framework (RQF) initiatives around the world and compare them to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). This report provides up-to-date information on RQF, thus filling information gaps in the field. The 15 RQF initiatives were identified and compared to the EQF, which provided a number of valuable insights.
